Meet Ladybug, a charming 13-15-year-old, 11.2-3hh Shetland pony mare as sweet as her name suggests! Ladybug is a stocky little beauty with a unicorn-like presence, ready to share her love with a child or someone who will adore her forever. Easy to care for, she stays fat on air and thrives on a simple hay-only diet.
Ladybug is broke to ride and knows her manners—she stands tied, leads, loads, lunges, and stands well for the farrier. She’s mid-to-low in the herd hierarchy and gets along with all kinds of equines, including donkeys, minis, mares, geldings, and larger horses. With her easygoing “whoa” over “go” personality, Ladybug makes a fantastic beginner’s pony. While she can be a little lazy and might need a refresher after time off, she quickly gets back into the swing of things. She also loves treats and affection, making her a wonderful companion.
Ladybug does have some small cons: she’s blind in her right eye, though it doesn’t slow her down or impact her sweet disposition. She may also need antihistamines in the spring and summer for mild allergies that can cause her eyes to become red and swollen.
